CHIARA MATRISCIANO
Roger K. Simpson '76 Annual Memorial Award for Excellence in Spanish
Clemson University - Spring 2025
While studying abroad in Spain, I received an email saying that I was awarded this, and unfortunately, I wasn't able to attend the celebration. I received this award in recognition of my performance and commitment to Spanish language studies. This experience motivated me to continue developing my bilingual and cross-cultural communication skills, which I later applied in both academic and professional settings, including my internships.

Translation Work - Clemson Regulatory Services
Clemson University - Fall 2024

As a Spanish Translation Intern at Clemson Regulatory Services, I translated a wide range of materials related to public services, agriculture, pesticide safety, and certification programs. My work focused on making technical and regulatory information more accessible to Spanish-speaking communities, helping ensure inclusivity and clear communication across different audiences. In addition to translation, I adapted content to maintain both accuracy and cultural relevance. My experience in this role was also recognized through an article written about my work, highlighting the impact of language accessibility and the importance of outreach within diverse communities.
Volunteer Work
Tampa, Florida
In the past, I volunteered to support individuals and families in need of food assistance, contributing to efforts that address food insecurity within the community. Although this experience took place earlier in my academic journey, it had a lasting impact on my perspective. It increased my awareness of social and economic challenges faced by vulnerable populations and reinforced the importance of accessible community support systems. This experience continues to influence my interest in working with and supporting others in meaningful ways.
